University Park, Pa. - Penn State junior women's gymnast Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) has been named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week, conference officials announced. It is the ninth career honor for Personett and the fifth this season.
Personett led the Nittany Lions to their second-highest team road score of the season as Penn State scored a 196.126 to defeat Arizona (195.300), Maryland (194.175) and Yale (165.625). She captured her seventh individual all-around title of the season with a 39.425, earning four top-five finishes. Personett placed fifth on vault with a 9.850, third on bars with a 9.825, first on beam with a 9.850 and first on floor with a 9.900, her ninth first-place floor finish this season.
Penn State, who is now ranked 13th in the nation and first in the conference, heads to Champaign, Ill., for the Big Ten Championships on Saturday, March 21. The meet will be televised live on the Big Ten Network at 3:00 p.m. ET.
