The Nittany Lions will host the Nittany Lion Invitational this weekend. The team will look to take advantage of playing at their only home tournament of the season. They are looking to improve on their 14th place finish at the Lady Northern in Madison, Wisc.

"We are looking forward to playing at home," said head coach Denise St. Pierre. "It is our one opportunity for the entire year that we play in our own backyard. It is comfortable for the players. I look for them to do very well."

The women's golf team will have five starters in the same lineup this week. The best four scores will count towards the team's final score. Junior Giulia Carando (Torino, Italy) will lead the Nittany Lions with her 79.2 stroke per round average. Freshman Emily Ransone (Hilliard, Ohio) also stays in the lineup. She has put up the team's lowest single round of the young season, with a 75 at the Paladin Invitational.

Senior Katherine Murphy (Portsmouth, R.I.), junior Brianna Malcolmson (Murwillumbah, Australia) and junior Gia Fanelli (West Palm Beach, Fla.) will also be part of the starting lineup. The rest of the Nittany Lions will compete as individuals, excluding Lindsay Cullen who is out due to injury.

Other notable teams competing are defending Nittany Lion Invitational champions William & Mary, Eastern Michigan, Ball State, Rollins College and Columbia.

The 34th Nittany Lion Invitational will take place at Penn State's Blue Course. The first two rounds of play will be held on Saturday, October 3. The third and final round will take place on Sunday, October 4.
