Penn State Women's Golf Team Prepares for Spider Invitational

The women's golf team will travel to Richmond, Va., for the Spider Invitational hosted by the University of Richmond. The tournament will be Penn State's last of the fall season. The team will look to continue their success after a second place finish at the Nittany Lion Invitational.

"I am very confident with the team going into our last fall tournament," said head coach Denise St. Pierre. "I believe we have the team to do very well here. We can get it done, but we need all our players to make it happen."

The lineup for the Spider Invitational will feature some new players. Freshman Emily Ransone (Hilliard, Ohio), who is coming off of a first place finish at the Nittany Lion Invitational will lead the team. Senior Katherine Murphy (Portsmouth, R.I.) and junior Gia Fanelli (West Palm Beach, Fla.) will remain in the starting lineup.

Freshmen Sky Seo (St. Louis, Mo.) and Jamie Lavin (Deerfield, Ill.) will also make appearances in this week's starting group. Juniors Giulia Carando (Torino, Italy) and Brianna Malcolmson (Murwillumbah, Australia) will compete for the sixth spot.

Other notable teams that will be competing in the Spider Invitational are Maryland, Western Carolina, Longwood and Richmond.

The Spider Inivitational will take place on Monday and Tuesday, October 12 and 13. It will consist of two rounds, with 18 holes of golf on Monday and 18 holes of golf on Tuesday.
