Oct. 9, 2009

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State field hockey freshman Kelsey Amy is set for a live interview on Northeast PA's ESPN radio on Saturday morning, Oct. 10, at 9 a.m. The Sweet Valley, Pa. native will join John Mendola at the beginning of the Saturday Morning Show. Fans in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area can tune in to 630/1240 AM and 96.1 FM while the live stream will also be available through the station's official website.

To listen live, check out the station's official website at nepasespnradio.com. Once on the home page, a "listen live" link can be found on the left part of the screen.

Amy is in the midst of an impressive streak which has coincided with two huge Nittany Lion wins. Her first-career goal, the overtime game-winner, came against No. 18 Ohio State last Friday in a game that was tape delayed on the Big Ten Network. Then on Monday vs. No. 14 Stanford, she scored what proved to be the game-winner on a penalty corner score late in the first half.

She was also named Penn State's first-ever Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Monday. The award is in its first year of existence. Amy is the first Penn State freshman in well over 10 years to score an overtime game-winner while she is also the first Nittany Lion with two consecutive game-winning goals since Daneen Zug did so last Oct. 5 and 10 (vs. Lock Haven and No. 5 Iowa).

The Nittany Lions look for their third straight win over a ranked opponent tonight (Friday) at 6 p.m. as they host No. 18 Northwestern on Pink Day in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. The first 200 fans receive free Pink T-Shirts while donations can also be made at the game with all proceeds going directly to Breast Cancer research via Play4TheCure.
