UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.-The Penn State women's soccer team moved up six spots in the latest NSCAA poll to 16th in the country. The Nittany Lions (12-5-2) are seeded fourth in the NCAA Tournament and will face Colgate on Friday at Jeffrey Field.
Penn State achieved its highest rankings in the polls since the first weekend in September when the Nittany Lions were 13th prior to games at Florida State and against Rutgers, both of which were losses.
Penn State is on a 10-1-2 roll since starting 2-4 after a 1-0 loss to Wake Forest on Sept. 11. The Nittany Lions captured their 12th-straight Big Ten Championship by going 8-1-1 in league play, unbeaten in their last nine matches.
Virginia (15 points) and St. John's (6) were each receiving votes in this week's poll. The two will square off in the first game of an NCAA doubleheader on Friday starting at 5:00 p.m. The winner of that match will face the winner of the Penn State-Colgate game, set for 7:30 p.m. The second-round match is slated for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at Jeffrey Field.
