Nittany Lions in the NFL - Week Nine

Each week throughout the year, www.GoPSUsports.com, will provide updates on the exploits of these former Nittany Lion greats. Highlights from week nine of the 2009 season include another standout effort from Levi Brown helping the Arizona Cardinals win a fourth consecutive game and Detroit Lions' wide receiver Bryant Johnson catching a 29-yard touchdown.

Anthony Adams (1999-02), DT, Chicago Bears
Arizona Cardinals 41, Chicago Bears 21
Adams recorded one tackle and a quarterback hit in a loss to the Cardinals.

Jay Alford (2003-06), DT, New York Giants
San Diego Chargers 21, New York Giants 20
Alford was placed on injured reserve after undergoing surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee. He will miss the entire 2009 season.

Levi Brown (2003-06), OT, Arizona Cardinals

Brown, the anchor of the offensive line from his right tackle spot, helped Arizona gain its fourth straight win by protecting quarterback Kurt Warner as he threw for 261 yards and five touchdowns. He paved the way for an offense that totaled 438 yards.

Deon Butler (2005-08), WR, Seattle Seahawks

Collins was active for the game but did not play. In six starts this year, Collins has completed 108 of 197 passing attempts (54.8%) for 1,071 yards with five touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Connor saw action on defense and special teams but did not record a tackle.

John Gilmore (1999-01), TE, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Serving as a back-up tight end, Gilmore did not have a catch.

Robbie Gould (2001-04), K, Chicago Bears

Gould connected on three extra points versus Arizona.

Tamba Hali (2002-05), DE, Kansas City Chiefs

Hali started at right outside linebacker, tallying three tackles, including one for a loss, and one quarterback hit.

Bryant Johnson (1999-02), WR, Detroit Lions

Johnson caught two passes for 35 yards, including a 29-yard touchdown reception.

Jeremy Kapinos (2003-06), P, Green Bay Packers

Kapinos punted six times, averaging 41.2 yards per kick. He booted one punt for 50 yards, and two of his punts landed inside the 20-yard line.

Jimmy Kennedy (1999-02), DT, Minnesota Vikings

Kennedy has served as a reserve defensive tackle this season. He has totaled nine tackles and three sacks.

McHugh is on the Steelers' injured list after sustaining a knee injury in the preseason and will be out for the season.

Kareem McKenzie (1997-00), OT, New York Giants

McKenzie was once again in the starting lineup against the Chargers, anchoring the right side of the offensive line from his tackle spot. He helped block for running back Brandon Jacobs, who averaged 6.1 yards a rush. Quarterback Eli Manning also threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns in the loss.

Rich Ohrnberger (2006-08), OG, New England Patriots

Ohrnberger was designated as inactive for the game. He remains listed as the second team right guard on the Patriots' depth chart.

Paul Posluszny (2003-06), LB, Buffalo Bills

Posluszny has served as the anchor of an injury-depleted Bills defense. After suffering an arm injury during week one, he has returned in strong fashion. Through four games played, he has 35 tackles (26 solo) and one interception.

Robinson totaled 171 yards on kick returns for a 24.4 average. Additionally, he tallied one reception for four yards in the loss. Scott, the Bills' starting strong safety, was inactive the last five games, sidelined by a high ankle sprain suffered in week three. He is back at full strength and has practiced all week, even getting some reps at linebacker, in preparation for Buffalo's week 10 match-up with the Tennessee Titans. Scott has totaled 27 tackles this season and one interception for a return of 29 yards.

Stewart has recorded four receptions for 43 yards through eight games this season serving as the Raiders' reserve tight end.

Wake sacked New England quarterback Tom Brady for a four-yard loss. The sack forced the Patriots to a field goal attempt after being stopped in the red zone.
