UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's and women's fencing teams will host the 38th annual Garrett Open this weekend at Penn State's White Building. The tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m on Saturday with the women's competition and continue at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday with the men's competition.

Sophomores Miles Chamley-Watson (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Monica Aksamit (Matawan, N.J.), both of which earned All-American honors last season, and freshman standout David Willette (Lafayette, Calif.) will also miss the tournament this weekend. David placed second at the NAC B Tournament in Kansas City two weeks ago.

The fencers are still led by junior captain Doris Willette (Lafayette, Calif.), who is coming off an outstanding year and a second national title in the foil. Senior National Champion Anastasia Ferdman (Maalot, Israel), will compete this weekend as well as sophomore Aleksander Ochocki (Clark, N.J.), whose impressive freshman season ended with the national title win in the saber last march.
