LION CAREER:
2010-11: Aksamit is in her third season with the Nittany Lions posting an impressive 35-11 season record. She earned herself a spot to compete in the NCAA Championships where she took seventh and walked away with All-American honors.
2009-10: After an impressive first season with the Nittany Lions, Aksamit came out strong posting a 8-1 record.
2008-09: Aksamit gave notice to the nation as a true freshman last season, earning All-America honors in her first season of collegiate action. She posted a superb 25-2 dual match record, tops on the women[apos]s team. After finishing third at the Mid-Atlantic/South Regionals, Aksamit posted a team-best 19 wins at the 2009 NCAA Fencing championships (hosted by Penn State) to place fifth in the saber and earn All-America honors.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL:
Aksamit spent her pre-collegiate career fencing for the Manhattan Fencing Center under head coach Yury Gelman. During her time there she went to the Cadet World Championships in 2007 and the Junior World Championships in 2008. Aksamit reached top 16 at Cadet Worlds and was a silver medalist in Junior Team. Along with these honors, she was the Junior Olympic 2008 Women[apos]s Saber Champion. Aksamit is majoring in Science here at Penn State.
