Penn State President To Host Series on Big Ten Network; Network To Celebrate Second Penn State Day on Friday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; - Penn State President Graham Spanier will host three hour-long shows this month that bring together the perspectives of university presidents, athletic directors, athletic conference commissioners and prominent sports journalists to discuss several issues in intercollegiate athletics.

"Expert Opinion with Graham Spanier," debuts Thursday, July 9, on the Network. New episodes will air on July 16 and 23. All three programs will debut at 7:00 p.m. ET. Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany, Northwestern President Henry Bienen, Purdue Director of Athletics Morgan Burke and Malcolm Moran, Knight Chair of Penn State's John Curley Center for Sports Journalism, will be among the guests.

Also this week, the Big Ten Network will air several of the Nittany Lions' most memorable victories on Friday, July 10, with 19 hours of Penn State programming.

The second of three days dedicated to Penn State on the Big Ten Network will feature the Nittany Lion men's basketball, field hockey, football and women's soccer teams.

Penn State Day begins Friday at 6:00 a.m. with the Nittany Lions' 49-18 victory over Michigan State to clinch the 2008 Big Ten Championship and a berth in the Rose Bowl.

Episodes of Big Ten's Greatest Games featuring the Nittany Lions will air throughout the day. At 2:00 p.m., Penn State's 34-31 win at Wisconsin during the 2002 football season will air. At 4:00 p.m., the Nittany Lion Basketball team's 85-76 win over No. 7 Michigan State will be featured.

The Penn State women's soccer team won its fifth conference tournament last fall, and the championship game versus Minnesota will air at 7:00 p.m.

At 9:00 p.m., the Nittany Lions' dramatic 35-31 gridiron victory at Illinois in 1994 will air on the Network. Penn State rallied from a 21-0 first quarter deficit to clinch its first conference title en route to becoming the first Big Ten team to earn a 12-0 record.

In addition to Friday, the Big Ten Network will air another Penn State Day featuring different programming on Wednesday, July 22.
