No. 55 Men's Tennis Hosts Buffalo, St. Bonaventure and Bucknell this Weekend

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The 55th-ranked Penn State men's tennis team (4-1, 0-0) will continue its homestand this weekend with three matches vs. Buffalo, St. Bonaventure and Bucknell. The Nittany Lions will take on the Bulls on Saturday at noon. Penn State will face St. Bonaventure on Sunday at 9 a.m. followed by Bucknell at 2 p.m. Action will take place at the Penn State Indoor Tennis Center and admission is free.

Last Time Out: Penn State picked up a 5-2 victory over the Maryland Terrapins at the Penn State Indoor Tennis Center last Sunday. The Nittany Lions came out and won two of the three doubles matches to clinch the doubles point. The Lions then went on to win four of the six singles matches to earn the 5-2 victory. Junior Eddie Bourchier (Hobart, Australia) clinched the match point for the Nittany Lions in the No. 2 bout.

Scouting Buffalo: The Bulls head into this weekend's match with a 2-0 record. Buffalo picked up two victories over Brown and Bryant to open the season on Jan. 23 and 24. Wojciech Starakiewicz leads the way for the Bulls as he is 2-0 this spring playing in the No. 1 bout. Starakiewicz finished 5-1 in tournament action this past fall.

All-Time vs. the Bulls: This will be Penn State's first ever dual with Buffalo. The Nittany Lions are 37-4 all-time vs. MAC opponents.

Scouting St. Bonaventure: The Bonnies head to University Park with an 0-1 record after suffering a 6-1 loss to Cleveland State last weekend. Enric Larregola picked up the lone singles victory for the Bonnies in the match. Mikhail Sudakov led the team with six victories this past fall.

All-Time vs. the Bonnies: Penn State carries a 15-0 record all-time vs. St. Bonaventure. The Nittany Lions last swept the Bonnies on Jan. 24, 2009 with a 7-0 victory.

Scouting Bucknell: Bucknell is 0-2 this spring, most recently losing to St. John's on Jan. 30, where the Bison were swept, 7-0. Anton Kovic plays the No. 1 bout for Bucknell. Josh Katten led the Bison last fall with an 8-4 record in tournament action. Katten has also tabbed the lone singles victory for the Bison this spring.

All-Time vs. the Bison: Penn State carries a 62-17-2 record all-time vs. the Bison. Most recently, the Nittany Lions dominated the Bison, 7-0, on April 15 of last season. Bucknell's last victory over Penn State was on May 7, 1970, in a 6-3 victory.

What's Next: Penn State will continue its eight-match homestand with Cornell on Feb. 27. The Nittany Lions will take on Army and Lafayette the following day in a doubleheader. Big Ten season will kickoff for Penn State on March 7 with an 11 a.m. match up with Purdue on the University Park campus.
