No. 15 Penn State Defeats Pittsburgh, 196.450-194.650; Personett Scores 10.0 on Vault

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Senior Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) scored the second 10.0 of her career on vault to help guide the No. 15 Penn State women's gymnastics team to a win at Pittsburgh Saturday night. Penn State posted a team score of 196.450 to Pitt's 194.650.

Penn State scored a 49.075 on bars, 49.400 on vault, 49.175 on beam and a 48.800 on floor. Pittsburgh posted a 49.025 on vault, a 48.625 on bars, 48.225 on beam and a 48.775 on floor.

Personett tied her career high in the all-around with a 39.600 to take top honors. Sophomore Whitney Bencsko (Pompton Plains, N.J.) also competed in the all-around taking fourth with a 38.375.

The Nittany Lions opened the meet on the uneven bars with sophomore Natalie Ettl (Waukesha, Wis.) winning the event for the third time this season with a 9.900. Personett and freshman Sharaya Musser (Colorado Springs, Colo.) tied for second on the event with a 9.825, while senior Alexandra Brockway (Macungie, Pa.) placed fourth with a 9.800. Bencsko rounded out the top PSU performers finishing sixth with a 9.725.

Penn State moved to vault in the second rotation where Personett led the way with her 10.0. Musser took second with a career-best 9.925 and Bencsko placed third with a 9.875. Senior Casey Rohrbaugh (Spring Grove, Pa.) and junior Danielle Hover (Hamburg, N.Y.) tied for sixth with a 9.800.

The Lions moved to floor next where Personett won her sixth floor title of the season. Freshman Madison Merriam (Gaithersburg, Md.) tied for second with Pitt's Alicia Talucci with a career-best 9.850. Rohrbaugh tied for fifth place with a 9.775, sophomore Daryl Konsevick (Rutherford, N.J.) finished seventh with a 9.750 and senior Allie Southard (Nanuet, N.Y.) placed 10th scoring a 9.525.

PSU closed out the meet on beam where Musser shared her first beam title with Personett and Talucci after scoring a 9.875. Konsevick finished fourth on beam with a career-best 9.825, while Rohrbaugh and Bencsko tied for fifth after each scoring a 9.800.
