Canes and Cardinal Day One Results
After one day and two rounds of golf at the Canes and Cardinal Classic, the Nittany Lions are currently in eighth place. Penn State put together a score of 637 (318-319) on the first day of the tournament, hosted by Miami.
Junior Gia Fanelli (West Palm Beach, Fla.) had the lowest score for the Nittany Lions, carding a 152 (73-79) for a +8. Her first round score of 73 is a new season best and she is currently in a tie for fifth place. Junior Brianna Malcolmson (Murwillumbah, Australia) followed Fanelli notching a 158 (78-80), leaving her tied for 25th place. Emily Ransone's (Hilliard, Ohio) card of 162 (82-80) put her in a tie for 32nd place after day one.
Junior Giulia Carando's (Torino, Italy) score of 165 (85-80) and freshman Hanule Seo's (St. Louis, Mo.) number of 166 (85-81) rounded out the field for the Nittany Lions.
The University of Maryland ended the day with a 609 (302-307) for a +33, earning them first place through the two rounds. Akron's Kristen Hill is currently leading the tournament after she posted a 143 (-1).
The third and final round of the Canes and Cardinal Classic will take place tomorrow, April 6, at Don Shula's Golf Resort in Miami, Fla. Play will resume at 8 a.m.
