Canes and Cardinal Classic Final Results
Following three rounds of golf in Miami, Fla., the Nittany Lions finished the Canes and Cardinal Classic with a score of 944 (318-319-307). This left Penn State with an eighth place finish in the tournament hosted by the University of Miami.
Junior Gia Fanelli (West Palm Beach, Fla.) improved in the final round, finishing the tournament in a tie for fourth place, one spot ahead of where she ended round two. Her tie for fourth place matched her career-best finish, which was at the Bucknell Invitational last season. Fanelli finished with a card of 226 (73-79-74) for a +10.
Junior Brianna Malcolmson (Murwillumbah, Australia) notched a 237 (78-80-79), earning herself a tie for 27th place. Freshman Emily Ransone (Hilliard, Ohio) followed close behind with a 239 (82-80-77) for a tie for 32nd place. Freshman Hanule Seo (St. Louis, Mo.) and junior Giulia Carando (Torino, Italy) rounded out the field for the Nittany Lions with scores of 243 and 248 respectively.
The University of Maryland held the lead through the final day with a third round total of 299 and a score of 908 for the tournament. Akron's Kristen Hill also stayed on top to earn the individual title with a 215 for -1.
Penn State will have a short break before they resume play at the Lady Buckeye on Saturday and Sunday, April 17 and 18. The tournament, hosted by Ohio State , will be held in Columbus, Ohio.
