ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Former Penn State All-American pitcher Nate Bump (Towanda, Pa.) has been named an International League All-Star and will participate in the 2010 Triple-A All-Star Game, as announced on Wednesday. Bump is enjoying an outstanding season with seven wins and a 2.55 ERA for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs and won't go far for the midsummer classic, which is hosted by his IronPigs in Allentown, Pa. The game is set for Wednesday, July 14 at 7:05 p.m., live on the MLB Network.

Bump is one of an IronPigs record four All-Stars selected. Reliever Scott Mathieson, third baseman Cody Ransom and first baseman Andy Tracy were also chosen.

A four-time letterwinner from 1995-98, Bump is enjoying a resurgent campaign in hopes of returning to the Major Leagues for the first time since 2005. After impressing for the Independent League's Camden Riversharks to begin last season, he signed with the Detroit Tigers and went 7-1 with a 2.38 ERA down the stretch for the Triple-A Toledo Mudhens.

After signing with the Philadelphia Phillies during the offseason, the success has continued into 2010. He leads the IronPigs with seven wins while his 2.55 ERA is fourth-best in the International League. His seven wins are also third in the IL while he is sixth in innings pitched (95.1). Bump is now 14-4 with a sub-2.50 ERA in 25 career International League starts.

Penn State's last All-American pitcher, Bump wrapped up a stellar collegiate career in 1998 when he became the highest draft pick in school history. He was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the first round of the Major League Baseball Draft, one year after going in the 23rd round to the Boston Red Sox. He left Happy Valley as Penn State's all-time leader in wins, strikeouts, games started and innings pitched.

The Triple-A All-Star Game, which features the International League against the Pacific Coast League, is set for July 14 at 7:05 p.m. in Allentown, Pa. It can be viewed live on the MLB Network and on MiLB.TV on the web. All-Star festivities begin on Saturday, July 10 with the Pigapalooza Fanfest.
