UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Following two weeks of voting on GoPSUsports.com, fans have spoken, choosing the Ohio State triumph as Penn State baseball's most memorable win of 2010. The Nittany Lions took two-of-three against the Buckeyes in April for their first ever series win in Columbus.

In a must-win weekend, the Nitany Lions responded by taking two-of-three at Ohio State to get right back into the Big Ten Tournament race. Despite dropping the series opener, 3-1, Penn State did hang tough against Collegiate Baseball National Pitcher of the Year and eventual MLB First Round Draft Pick Alex Wimmers. The Lions battled all game long, even taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the third, but could not plate any more. They continued to battle, even bringing the go-ahead run to the plate in both the eighth and ninth innings. Freshman Steven Hill (Colleyville, Texas) threw seven innings, allowing only three runs to keep Penn State close.
The Nittany Lions outscored the Buckeyes 32-16 over the final two games for their first-ever series win at Ohio State while handing the Buckeyes their first Big Ten series loss of the season.
Penn State used a balanced offensive attack to plate a season-high 18 runs on 19 hits for an impressive 18-10 win on Saturday. Redshirt freshman Elliot Searer (Lewistown, Pa.) tied the Penn State single-game hits record with five while junior Ben Heath (Huntersville, N.C.) set a career-high with four hits, including his 13th and 14th home runs of the season. Senior Louie Picconi (North Merrick, N.Y.) and junior Mario Eramo (Houston, Texas) homered while senior David Lutz (West Chester, Pa.) threw 4.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen for his second win of the season.
Strong pitching from sophomore Ryan Ignas (North Wales, Pa.) coupled with another offensive outburst led Penn State to its second straight win at Ohio State on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Heath hit his third home run of the series and 15th of the season to pull within two of the Penn State single-season record while Lutz made his 76th career appearance to tie the school's career mark.
