Women's Golf Team Completes Final Fall Tournament

Lady Northern Final Results

In its last tournament of the fall season, the Penn State women's golf team finished the Lady Northern in 10th place out of 12 teams participating. In the tournament, hosted by Northwestern in Glencoe, Ill., the Nittany Lions posted a three-round score of 915 (301-302-312) for a 51-over-par.

Freshman Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) and senior Gia Fanelli (West Palm Beach, Fla.) finished the Lady Northern with a team-best 229 (+13) and a tie for 37th place. Ceresko carded rounds of 75-78-76, while Fanelli posted scores of 77-73-79. Sophomore Hanule Seo (St. Louis, Mo.) finished just behind Ceresko and Fanelli with a score of 230 (76-76-78), leaving her tied in 42nd place at the end of the three rounds.

Senior Giulia Carando (Torino, Italy) carded a 238 (+22) and a tie for 59th place. Sophomore Emily Ransone (Hilliard, Ohio) also competed as a starter for the Nittany Lions. Freshman Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) played in the tournament as an individual and finished tied for 67th place.

Purdue stayed on top through the third round, posting a team score of 858 (-6) to win the Lady Northern. The Boilermakers finished 17 strokes ahead of the second place finisher, and host, Northwestern. Lauren Weaver of Northwestern won the individual title with a score of 208 (-8).

The Nittany Lions will have a break before competing in the Lady Puerto Rico Classic hosted by Purdue. The tournament, which will be played in San Juan, P.R., will take place from Sunday through Tuesday, Feb. 6-8.
