Nittany Lion Invitational Day One Results
The Penn State women's golf team is currently in a tie for first place at its home tournament, the Nittany Lion Invitational. The team carded a 24-over-par 600 (295-305). The 295 in the first round is tied for the third-best single round in school history and is a season-best. The two-round score of 600 ranks fourth all-time on that list.
Sophomore Emily Ransone (Hilliard, Ohio) led the Nittany Lions in the tournament she won last season, with a 4-over-par 148 (72-76). She is currently in a tie for eighth place. Senior Giulia Carando (Torino, Italy) followed two strokes behind Ransone with a 151 (73-78) and a tie for 13th place. Her first round of 73 tied her career best, which she recorded earlier this season at the Cougar Classic. Freshman Ellen Ceresko matched Carando's score of 151 (74-77).
Sophomore Hanule Seo (St. Louis, Mo.) carded a 153 (79-74) for a +9. She is currently in a tie for 23rd place. Senior Gia Fanelli (West Palm Beach, Fla.) rounded out the field for the Nittany Lion starters with a 158 (76-82) and a tie for 49th place. Senior Brianna Malcolmson (Murwillumbah, Australia) put together a two-round score of 154 (76-78) for a +10 and is currently tied for 31st place. The rest of the Nittany Lion roster competed as individuals.
The Nittany Lions are tied with Western Michigan University, who carded rounds of 299-301 (600). Western Michigan golfer Kaylee Imel leads all competitors with her two-round score of 145 (70-75) for a +1.
The third and final round of the Nittany Lion Invitational will be played tomorrow, Oct. 3. The round will begin with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
