Big Ten Network to Air Five Penn State Baseball and Softball Games First Week of May

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; - The Big Ten Network will televise five Penn State softball and baseball games during the first week of May. All five nine contests will air in HD.

The Nittany Lion softball team visits Northwestern this weekend. The Big Ten Network will carry games live on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. ET and Sunday at 12:00. Coach Robin Petrini's squad swept two games with Iowa last weekend and enters the Northwestern series 28-18 overall and 7-7 in the conference. The Wildcats are 7-5 in the Big Ten.

The Penn State baseball team is home the next two weekends. Coach Robbie Wine's team hosts Michigan State this weekend for three games and hosts Iowa May 7-9, with all three contests airing live on the Big Ten Network. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. on Friday, 4:00 p.m on Saturday and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 9.

In addition to the more than 350 Big Ten sports events it is airing in 2009-10, the Big Ten Network will have live coverage of President Barack Obama's commencement speech at the University of Michigan on Saturday, May 1 at 10:30 a.m.

The Big Ten Network is televising 33 Big Ten baseball games and 22 softball games this spring, in addition to coverage of every game of the conference baseball tournament, May 26-29.

Available to more than 75 million homes nationwide on approximately 300 cable and satellite providers, the Big Ten Network will air at least 58 Penn State events this year, in addition to coverage of 13 Big Ten Championships.
