KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - Rising senior paralympic athlete Jake Schrom recently competed in the International Paralymic Committee (IPC) Powerlifing World Championships with fantastic results. Schrom took home gold in the Junior (Under 23) 90.0 Kg category on Thursday, July 27.

Schrom, who will be a senior this fall at Penn State, entered the event ranked 15th overall in the world for powerlifting. Schrom lifted at 369 pounds to capture the gold medal in the junior division, but had his top 10 overall finish halted due to a judge's call at 374. Schrom finished 13th overall at the World Championships.

"It was amazing hearing the national anthem play," Schrom said afterwards. "I will probably move down a weight class into 82.5 Kg division to do even better for my rank."
