Women's Tennis Travels to New Orleans to Face Tulane

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's tennis (3-7, 0-1) team traveled to New Orleans today to take on the Tulane Green Wave as play begins at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Penn State will look to snap a five game skid and several close losses as the Nittany Lions look to get back in the win column. The Nittany Lions have lost their last four matches by a combined four points.

No. 111 Sophomore Petra Januskova (Ottawa, Canada) leads the Nittany Lions with a 19-5 singles record and 6-2 in dual matches. The sophomore has currently won six of her past seven matches including a victory over No. 92 Rachael White of No. 51 Illinois.

Januskova and fellow sophomore Amy Simidian (Carlstadt, N.J.) played together in doubles for the second time in doubles and defeated the No. 9 ranked doubles team in the country of White and Allison Falkin, 8-6.

Denisa Zobeideh (Weston, Fla.) has also earned five dual match victories this season as she has came on strong winning two of her last three. Freshman Carmen Sandor (Toronto, Canada) has played well as a freshman and continues to play in the top four of singles.

Sophomore Sarah Henderson (Bloomington, Ind.), junior Fernanda Perrotta (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Marie-Frederique Bedard (Kiev, Ukraine) are all competing for the last two spots and will look to help get the Nittany Lions a win in New Orleans.

The Green Wave is 5-7 on the year and led by head coach Terri Sisk, who is in her third year at the helm. Since taking over, the Green wave have posted a 25-21 record and a 7-6 mark against Conference USA opponents. The team is led by Mariam Kurdadze and Emma Levy who both hold 16-10 records on the season.

Penn State will travel to Huntington, W. Va. to take on Winthrop and Marshall on Sat., Mar. 19 and Sun., Mar. 20, with each match starting at noon.
