Seo Knocked out of U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - After two rounds of stroke play and two rounds of match play in Bandon, Ore., Hanule Seo (St. Louis, Mo.) has been knocked out of the chase for the 2011 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship.

Seo made it to the round of 32, which began on Thursday morning. After defeating Brooke Baker in the round of 64 on Wednesday, the 12th seeded Seo met Stephanie Kono in the round of 32 for a chance to advance to the round of 16, which was to be played directly after. The 21 seed Kono edged out Seo 3-and-2, as she was 3-up on Seo with just two holes to play.

The round of 32 was played on the 6,095-yard, par-71 Bandon Trails at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. Seo made it through two rounds of stroke play and played two rounds of match play before being knocked out of a tournament that started with 156 golfers, ranging in age from 12 to 58. There were 34 states and 11 countries represented in the tournament.

The women's golf team will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 11, as it heads to Charleston, S.C. for the Cougar Classic. The three-round tournament is hosted by the College of Charleston and will last until Tuesday, Sept. 13.
