UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's golf team will head to Simpsonville, Ky., to compete in the two-day Wild Eggs Cardinal Cup. The tournament, which will begin on Monday (Sept. 19), will be hosted by Louisville. The 54-hole tournament will be held on the par-72, 6,253-yard Cardinal Club Course. There will be 14 teams competing, including three teams (Furman, Maryland, North Carolina State) that the Nittany Lions faced at the Cougar Classic.
"We are excited to head out on the road again to the Wild Eggs Cardinal Cup," said head coach Denise St. Pierre. "We have been focused in practice on putting and chipping, an area we fell short in at the opening tournament."
Penn State will send six golfers to compete, five of whom remain in the lineup after competing at the Cougar Classic. Junior Emily Ransone (Hilliard, Ohio) led the Nittany Lions in the opening tournament, averaging 75.0 strokes-per-round, while classmate Hanule Seo (St. Louis, Mo.) returns to the lineup following an injury that kept her out of the opening tournament.
Sophomores Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) and Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) will also be making the trip. Ceresko carried an average of 75.3 strokes-per-round, while Vosters followed close behind with an average of 76.0. Two freshmen, Elyse Archambault (St-Jean-sur-Rich, Que.) and Katlyn Elliott (Peterborough, Ont.), will each make their second tournament appearance.
The tournament will begin with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start on Monday. Two rounds will be played on the first day. The final round will take place on Tuesday (Sept. 20), beginning with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start.
