UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 11 Penn State women's lacrosse team will head back out on the road on Wednesday when it visits Hofstra (2-4) for a 3 p.m. mid-week non-conference contest in Hempstead, N.Y. at the home of the Pride, James M. Shuart Stadium. The Nittany Lions are undefeated away from home this season, compiling a 3-0 record.
Last weekend, Penn State (5-2) built a commanding 8-2 halftime lead and then went on to cruise to a 12-6 win over Delaware in Newark. Maggie McCormick (Eldersburg, Md.) continued her strong start to her rookie campaign, scoring three goals and notching two assists, all in the first 20 minutes of the game. Senior Theresa Zichelli (Severna Park, Md.) also posted a hat trick while sophomore Mackenzie Cyr (Westminster, Md.) and freshman Kelly Lechner (Silver Spring, Md.) chipped in two goals each.
Hofstra has dropped two straight games, both at home, including a 15-7 setback suffered to Rutgers on March 10. Senior Maryann Miller, who tied a career high with four points versus the Scarlet Knights, leads the Pride with 11 points (8 goals, 3 assists). Junior Jill Maier tops Hofstra in goals (9) and freshman Brittain Altomare has a team-high five assists. Senior goalkeeper Jaclyn Pandolf has started all six games this season, amassing a 10.95 goals against average and .526 save percentage.
Wednesday's game will be just the second-ever meeting between Penn State and Hofstra. In 2011, the Nittany Lions began the series in successful fashion, using an 11-goal second half outburst to down the Pride, 16-7, in Happy Valley.

Penn State will open American Lacrosse Conference play this weekend when it travels to Nashville, Tenn. to meet No. 8 Vanderbilt (4-1). The Nittany Lions and Commodores will clash on Sunday, March 18 at 2 p.m. ET at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex. A year ago, Penn State built a sizeable first half lead and then staved off a furious second half comeback attempt to claim an 11-8 upset win over then-No. 12 Vanderbilt at Bigler Field.
