UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State football program is hosting coaches from several states this weekend for its Annual Coaches Clinic. The two-day event began on Friday morning with opening remarks and instructional sessions in Holuba Hall.
"I really appreciate the fact that you are here because, in many ways, you are the core of the relationship we are trying to start," Penn State head coach Bill O'Brien told the attendees. "You are here today because you believe in Penn State, you want to know want to know about the new staff, and you want to learn football. Hopefully, we can learn from each other this weekend."
O'Brien then went on to detail his offensive philosophy. Defensive coordinator Ted Roof addressed the audience next, welcoming the coaches and describing his approach to coaching. Following Roof's remarks, positional sessions were held, with each Penn State offensive and defensive coach providing more specific instruction.
Later on Friday, Dr. Wayne Sebastianelli, Penn State's Director of Sports Medicine, spoke to the attendees, followed by additional offensive and defensive positional breakout sessions.
On Saturday, Craig Fitzgerald, Director of Strength and Conditioning for football, will lead a strength and conditioning session in the morning. Coaches will then have the opportunity to observe the third of Penn State's 15 spring practices.
Penn State will culminate spring practice with the highly anticipated Blue-White Game presented by AAA on Saturday, April 21. Kickoff is at 2 p.m. in Beaver Stadium and there is no admission or parking fee. The contest will air on the Penn State Sports Network and www.GoPSUsports.com.
