Women's Golf Takes 11th at Big Ten Championships

FRENCH LICK, Ind. - With a 70-over-par, 54-hole team total of 934 (309-312-313), the Penn State women's golf team finished the Big Ten Championships in 11th place on Sunday. The Nittany Lions carded a 25-over-par 313 in the closing round on the par-72, 6,156-yard Donald Ross Course at the French Lick Resort. Penn State finished 10 strokes ahead of Indiana.

Registering three birdies in the final round, freshman Elyse Archambault (St-Jean-sur-Rich, Que.) moved up one spot in the final round to finish the conference tournament in 13th place. Archambault posted her second round of 74 to finish with an 8-over-par 224 (74-76-74).

Sophomore Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) concluded the tournament in a tie for 36th place, recording a 19-over-par 235 (75-80-80). Junior Emily Ransone (Hilliard, Ohio) carded a third-round score of 83 to finish with a 23-over-par 239 (80-76-83) to finish in a tie for 53rd place.

Following one stroke behind Ransone was freshman Katlyn Elliott (Peterborough, Ont.), who tied for 55th place with three rounds of 80. Classmate Erin Michel (Mason, Ohio) recorded her best round of the tournament with a 79 in the closing round to finish in 63rd place with a 245 (86-80-79). Junior Jamie Lavin (Deerfield, Ill.) rounded out the Nittany Lion golfers in 65th place with a 32-over-par 248 (82-83-83).

The 23rd-ranked Michigan State Spartans earned their second consecutive Big Ten title with a 21-over-par 885 (298-292-295). Purdue's Laura Gonzalez won the individual title as she posted a 3-under-par 69 in each of the final two rounds to finish the tournament with an even-par 216.
