Gadowsky to Join NHL Veterans Hitchcock, Keenan at Hockey Coaches Conference

July 19, 2012

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Head men's hockey coach Guy Gadowsky, along with NHL coaching veterans Ken Hitchcock and Mike Keenan, will be among the group of presenters scheduled to speak at the 2012 Hockey Coaches Conference, which will run from July 20-21. The two-day conference, presented by The Coaches Site, will be held at the Delta Hotel & Conference Centre in Burnaby, B.C.

Gadowsky will give his presentation on Saturday (July 21) at 12:40 p.m. EDT. The 12-year NCAA coaching veteran, who guided Princeton (2004-11) and Alaska (1999-2004) before coming to Penn State, will lead the Nittany Lions during their first NCAA season in 2012-13. Penn State, which will compete as an independent, will play 27 games against Division I opponents during its inaugural NCAA campaign.

A veteran of more than 1,000 games behind NHL benches, Hitchcock took over the reins of the St. Louis Blues on Nov. 6 and led the team to a 43-15-11 finish and their first Central Division title since the 1999-2000 season. For his efforts, Hitchcock, who also led the Dallas Stars to the 1999 Stanley Cup, earned the 2012 Jack Adams Award, presented to the league's top coach.

Fifth all-time among NHL coaches in regular-season wins, Keenan served as head coach for eight franchises: Philadelphia (1984-88), Chicago (1988-92), the New York Rangers (1993-94), St. Louis (1994-97), Vancouver (1997-99), Boston (2000-01), Florida (2001-04) and Calgary (2007-09). He was honored with the Jack Adams Award following his rookie campaign in 1984-85 and his teams twice earned the President's Trophy for best regular-season record. Keenan also led the Rangers to the 1994 Stanley Cup championship.
