The Penn State men's golf team is in 14th place after one complete round at the Linger Longer Invitational in Greensboro, Ga. The second round of play was suspended due to darkness and will continue Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. The Nittany Lions shot a 311 in the first round, and will resume round two with a current score of 206.
Senior Anthony DeGol (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) is tied for 45th in the individual rankings, shooting a 76 in the first round and marking a 43 through the first ten holes of round two. Freshman Chris Houston (Gilford, N.H.) tallied a 76 after the first 18 holes of the day and sits tied for 67th after 11 holes completed the second round.
Sophomore Jens Talbert (Little Rock, Ark.) is currently tied for 70th, shooting an 84 in round one and posting a 51 so far in round two. The second sophomore on the Nittany Lion roster, Xander McDonald-Smith (Rockaway Park, N.Y.), shot a 75 in round one and has 6 holes remaining in round two.
Senior Jay Woodward (Bridgeport, W. Va.) rounded out team play for Penn State on day one of competition, tallying an 85 through the first 18 holes. Woodward has shot a 62 thus far in round two and has five holes remaining before the final round of play. The second-ranked Alabama golf team holds the first place spot, shooting a team score of 281 in the first round.
Day two of the Linger Longer Invitational is slated to start at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning when round two will be completed and the final 18 holes of competition will follow.
