UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 match against #63 Purdue on Sunday at the Indoor Tennis Center. The Boilermakers won a tough doubles point, but Penn State was able to pick up singles win by Russell Bader and a doubles win by Bader and Guanhua Chen. Penn State is now 6-10 and 0-3 in the Big Ten. Purdue improved to 14-4, 1-1 with the win.

In the number three doubles spot, Marc Kovacs and Pawel Poziomski came out on top in a back-and-forth match and won 8-6 against Roman Trkulja (Toronto, Canada) and Chris Young (Melbourne, Australia).

Russell Bader (Austin, Texas) and Guanhua Chen (DaLian, China) won their match 8-6 against Diego Acosta and Aaron Dujovne in the number one doubles match to give each team one doubles win.

In the third match, C.J. Griffin (Portland, Mich.) and Bryan Welnetz (Laredo, Texas) forced a tough battle but came up short, falling 8-6 against Szymon Tatarczyk and Krisztian Krocsko. Purdue claimed the first point of the day.

Bader got his 11th win of the year by knocking off Diego Acosta in the number three singles match. Bader dropped the first set 3-6, but responded by winning a tough second set 7-6(7-2). Bader continued his momentum in the third set, winning 6-1. It's Bader's third straight win.

Welnetz got the first set of his match 6-3 against Szymon Tatarczyk, but dropped the second 6-2. Tatarczyk won the third set 6-1. Tatarczyk's win clinched the match for Purdue with their fourth point.

Tomas Hanzlik (Prague, Czech Republic) came up short in a tough back-and-forth first set as Mark Kovacs ended up winning 7-6(10-8). Kovacs picked up the second set 6-1.

In the number four singles match, Aaron Dujovne defeated Chris Young 6-3, 6-1. Dujovne earned Purdue's second point of the day.

Trkulja dropped a tough first set 7-6(7-5) against Krisztian Krocsko at number five singles. Krocsko won the second set 6-3.

In the sixth singles match, Matt Barry (Lido Beach, N.Y.) fell 6-1, 6-4 to Mateus Silva.

Next weekend, Penn State travels to Iowa on Friday and #50 Nebraska on Sunday.
