Nittany Lions Travel to Iowa, #57 Nebraska for Big Ten Matches

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Penn State men's tennis team will travel to Iowa and Nebraska for Big Ten matches this weekend. The Nittany Lions enter the weekend with a 6-10 mark, 0-3 in the Big Ten. Penn State will take on Iowa on Friday at 3:00 p.m. ET. They will then head to Nebraska to take on the 57th ranked Cornhuskers on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.

Last weekend, Penn State fell 5-2 against Indiana on Friday and 6-1 against #63 Purdue on Sunday at the Indoor Tennis Center.

Russell Bader (Austin, Texas) leads the Penn State squad with 11 wins this spring, including seven out of the four spot in the lineup. He enters the weekend riding a three-match win streak and having won seven of his last ten matches.

Sophomore Tomas Hanzlik (Prague, Czech Republic) has a 9-7 record this spring, including a perfect 5-0 mark out of the three spot.

Matt Barry (Lido Beach, N.Y.) holds an 8-4 mark this spring. Barry's eight-match win streak was snapped last weekend.

Senior Bryan Welnetz (Laredo, Texas) has six wins in dual matches this year. He will look to get back on track this weekend after dropping a pair of matches last weekend.

Freshman Roman Trkulja (Prague, Czech Republic) has earned seven wins this spring. Chris Young (Melbourne, Australia) has five wins in dual matches.

Bader and Guanhua Chen (DaLian, China) have combined for five doubles wins. Welnetz and C.J. Griffin (Portland, Mich.) are 6-5 this spring. Chris Young and Trkulja split a pair of matches last weekend.

Iowa is 7-7 this spring, 0-2 in the Big Ten. Last week, the Hawkeyes lost 4-3 at Pacific and won 5-2 at Fresno State.

Garret Dunn has eight wins and Jonas Dierckx has seven wins this spring to lead the team.

Dominic Patrick also has seven wins for the Hawkeyes. Juan Estenssoro and Matt Hagan each have six wins this spring.

Dierckx and Hagan have combined to go 9-3 in doubles. Dunn and Michael Swank are 6-4 out of the number one doubles spot.

Nebraska is 8-7 this spring, 0-2 in the Big Ten. Last weekend, the Huskers dropped a 7-0 match against #19 Illinois.

Tom Blackwell leads the team with ten wins this spring, followed by Dusty Boyer with eight. Andre Stenger has the most starts in the one spot this spring with eight.

Brandon Videtich and Scott Elsass lead the squad with seven doubles wins. Boyer and Bradford Zitsch have six wins.
