Ceresko Set to Play in Finals of PA Women's Amateur Golf Championship

Aug 16, 2013

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Following two solid performances earlier this week, rising junior women's golfer Ellen Ceresko has advanced to the final round of the Pennsylvania Women's Amateur Golf Championship at Gulph Mills Country Club in King of Prussia, Pa.

Ceresko knocked off Madelein Herr in the opening round, before her performance in 20 holes was enough to top Allison Weaver. She then defeated Aurora Kan, a junior at Purdue, 2 and 1, to advance to the final round of play, where she will take on Jackie Rogowicz.

Having earned the prestigious title in 2012, if Ceresko wins today, she will become the first Nittany Lion to claim back-to-back honors in the event.

Ceresko and the rest of the Nittany Lions recently wrapped up their NCAA Championship appearance in the East Regional on May 11, 2013, finished in a tie for 19th place at the event. Ceresko was one of two golfers to post a third-round 73. She was also the team leader, finishing with a score of 225 (77, 75, 73), putting her in a tie for 60th at nine shots over par.
