UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Nittany Lion women's hockey team welcomes Colgate for a two-game series Friday (7 p.m. and Saturday (2 p.m.) at Pegula Ice Arena. Both games will be streamed live on BTN.com as Penn State celebrates Youth Weekend with all children 12 and under earning free admission.

TICKETS
Fans can purchase season single-game tickets for $5 at the Pegula Ice Arena ticket office located near Gate A. All Penn State students gain free entry with valid ID and can sit in the Roar Zone. Men's hockey premium season ticket holders gain complimentary admission as well. Seating will be general admission on the north side of the building behind the team benches in sections 108-112.
PROMOTIONS & PARKING
Friday & Saturday: Children 12 & under will earn free admission to this weekend's games with a paid adult.
Saturday: Fans who attend Saturday's Penn State-Indiana men's basketball game at the Bryce Jordan Center will also gain free admission when they show their basketball ticket. Penn State will also host a free post-game skate on the ice with the Nittany Lions. Free skate rentals are also available.
Free parking for Penn State women's hockey games is free in certain lots around Pegula Ice Arena including Shields & Wagner Yellow Lots H as well as Orange Lot F near Holuba Hall and East Area Locker Room. Fans are advised of Saturday's men's basketball game at the BJC and to inform the parking attendant of which game they're attending.
The Limited Bag Policy is in effect for these contests. Contents brought to the game must be in a clear, gallon-sized bag or a jacket.

PENN STATE-COLGATE CONNECTIONS
This weekend's series with Colgate has numerous connections between the Raider squad and Penn State. Both the Nittany Lions and Colgate have student-athletes that competed together at three previous high schools: North American Hockey Academy (Vt.), Gilmour Academy (Ohio) and Edina HS (Minn.). Additionally, junior goaltender Brittney Brooks is the younger sister of Penn State men's hockey forward Kenny Brooks.

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
Following its month-long break, Colgate (4-13-2, 2-8-0 ECAC Hockey) split its away weekend at Yale (6-4 loss) and Brown (3-2 win). The Raiders dominated the stat sheet both nights, out-shooting Yale and Brown by totals of 36-20 and 31-16, respectively along with five power-play goals. The power-play clicked as it went 5-for-12 (.416) after starting the season 6-for-90 (.067). The penalty kill was effective turning aside all eight opposing advantages. The Raiders haven't allowed a power-play goal since Nov. 30 against Vermont, a span of 11 opportunities and 209 minutes, 12 seconds.
Colgate scores at a clip of 1.5 goals a game, while allowing 2.9 goals per game. Offensively, Miriam Drubel leads the team in goals (6), points (14) and is tied for the team lead in assists (8). Nicole Gass is second on the squad with nine points on a goal and eight assists. Taylor Craig is second on the squad with four tallies. In net, three goaltenders have split the 1,156 minutes played this season with Brittney Brooks earning eight starts and 476 minutes played between the pipes. Brooks leads the team with a 2-5-1 record and a 2.39 GAA. Susan Allen is second on the team in minutes (349), GAA (2.41) and save percentage (91.36) just ahead of Brooks (91.40). Ashlynne Rando has started seven games and earned 316 minutes in net with a 3.80 GAA and 87.7 save percentage.

COMMON ENEMIES
Penn State and Colgate have five common opponents thus far in the season. The Nittany Lions are 2-7-1 against RIT, Quinnipiac, Syracuse, Union and Vermont, while Colgate is 2-3-2.
PENN STATE RETURNS TO ITS #NEWDEN
The Nittany Lions opened its new $90 million home, Pegula Ice Arena, on Oct. 18 against Union in a 2-1 loss. The next day, PSU would earn a 2-1 victory for the program's first win at Pegula. In all, Penn State will host 17 games in the state-of-the-art arena that seats 5,782. The team's first season at PIA began with an eight-game home stand over 23 days. The Nittany Lions host eight contests in 2014 beginning with this week's two-game series against Colgate Friday and Saturday.
YOUTH SUPPLIES THE OFFENSE
The addition of four freshmen: Laura Bowman, Amy Petersen, Sarah Nielsen and Kelly Seward have injected an instant bump in scoring production with 20 of the team's 74 points. To prove the youth of the team, 59 of the team's 74 points (79.7%) were collectively tallied by freshmen and sophomores. Eight of the team's top nine point scorers are underclassmen.

Penn State has had the fortune of multiple contributors on the offensive end. Eleven Nittany Lions have scored a goal this season, while 17 have registered a point. Shannon Yoxheimer leads the team with 11 points, Taylor Gross has 10 points, while Hannah Hoenshell and Laura Bowman have nine and seven points, respectively.
NEXT TIME OUT
Penn State takes a two-week break from competition before traveling to Syracuse and Princeton. The two-game series at Syracuse marks a return to CHA action Jan. 24-25, while the Nittany Lions head to Princeton for the first time in program history on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
