No. 8 Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 8 Penn State men's gymnastics team swept past No. 15 Temple, 431.550-401.60 Saturday afternoon at Rec Hall. The Nittany Lions bested the Owls in all six events to claim their fourth consecutive team title.

Sophomore Trevor Howard (Columbus, Ohio) claimed individual event titles on the rings (15.650), high bar (14.55), and parallel bars, where he swung to a season-high score of 15.150. Howard finished tied for third (13.650) in the floor exercise (13.650) and placed second on the vault (14.800) to round out his performance.

Sophomore Alexis Torres (Catano, Puerto Rico) finished first in the floor exercise, earning a career-high score of 15.300. Freshman Jeremy Munn (York, Maine) earned a second-place finish in floor exercise with a score of 14.500, followed by Howard's third-place 13.650 tally.

Torres also notched a career-high mark on the still rings, swinging to a score of 15.400, as well as a 13.650 on the pommel horse and a 14.350 on the high bar, placing second overall.

Junior Tristan Duverglas (West Orange, N.J.) earned the individual title on the vault with a season-high 15.500. Duverglas also posted a 14.950 on the still rings, a 14.200 on parallel bars, and a 13.000 in the floor exercise. Penn State dominated the parallel bars, claiming the first four spots behind Howard's season-high tally.

Junior Craig Hernandez (Libertville, Ill.) secured a first place finish with a season-high score of 15.150 on the pommel horse to contribute to Penn State's victory. Hernandez led the Lions as they secured the first four positions on the pommel horse.

In freshman Franz Card's (Nashua, N.H.) collegiate debut, he totaled a 13.400 on the high bar, placing him sixth in the event.

Penn State continues its 2014 campaign at home, hosting another dual meet with the women's squad Feb. 15 at 4 p.m. Both teams will welcome Big Ten foe Illinois to Rec Hall.
