ATLANTA, Ga.; March 9, 2014 - John Hauser and Matt Stasiunas were the only two Penn State swimmers to compete in the Georgia Tech Invitational Last Chance Meet. Both swimmers reached the NCAA "B" qualifying standard in their events.
Hauser competed in the 200 freestyle and placed first in the event with a time of 1:34.89. The time is .01 seconds off his best time of the season, which he recorded last weekend at the Big Ten Championships. The senior competed in the 100 freestyle yesterday and placed second.
The other Nittany Lion swimmer to compete on Sunday was Matt Stasiunas, who competed in the grueling 1,650 freestyle for the first time as a member of the Blue and White. The freshman placed second with a time of 15:11.65 in the event, the second fastest mark of a PSU swimmer this season.
The Nittany Lion Diving team will compete in the NCAA Diving Zone Qualifying in Blacksburg, Va. from March 10-12. The NCAA Championships will be held in Austin, Texas from March 27-29.
