UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; Sept. 23, 2014 - The No. 8 Penn State women's soccer team bamboozled Bucknell with an offensive onslaught, besting the Bison, 7-0, in a non-conference Tuesday night match.

Led by Frannie Crouse's (Greensburg, Pa.) five points and a combined seven saves by Britt Eckerstrom (Germantown, Md.) and Meghan Kaminski (Doylestown, Pa.), the Nittany Lions' seven goals is the most scored since 2005 when Penn State shut out Iowa, 8-0.

Mallory Weber (Novi, Mich.) put the Blue and White (8-1) on the board in the 14th minute. Salina Williford (Wayne, Pa.) knocked the ball from the air to Weber. Weber brought it down and outpaced two Bucknell (5-5) defenders then sliced the ball with her left foot, putting the Lions up, 1-0.

Penn State doubled up on its lead at the 30-minute mark. Megan Schafer (Langhorne, Pa.) dished an assist from the center line to Crouse, who streaked down the left wing, arched around a Bucknell defender and slid the ball from the nearside post past the goalkeeper for the 2-0 lead.

Schafer's foot continued to smolder nearing halftime. At 44:36, Schafer collected the ball, which had bounced off of a Bison player, and left footed it in for the 3-0 count.

Emily Ogle (Strongsville, Ohio) sustained Penn State's offensive attack after the midgame break. She knocked in the Lions' fourth goal of the game off of an assist from Weber 1:16 into the second half.

Up 4-0 in the second half, head coach Erica Walsh rotated her bench, allowing for reserves to see significant playing time. One such Nittany Lion, Anna Witte (Morrisville N.C.), took advantage of the opportunity to put Penn State up 5-0. Her hard kicked shot from the far sideline sailed into the net for the first goal of her career.

However, Penn State wasn't content with just five goals. After some fancy footwork, Crouse dished the ball to Mallory Peterson (Clinton Corners, N.Y.), who deked around a Bison and kicked it high above Jessie Ashworth for the Lions' sixth of the game

Crouse tacked on her second of the game with just under a minute left in regulation for the final 7-0 score.

Starter Eckerstrom and Kaminski combined for seven saves and the team's fourth shutout of the year.
Penn State resumes Big Ten play on Fri., Sept. 26 with a 7 p.m. match at Jeffrey Field against Northwestern.
