Penn State Looks Impressive as Olympic Trials Continue

Oct. 12, 2014 PORTLAND, Ore. - As the Olympic Trials in Portland, Oregon continue, Penn State brought home top three finishes in the Men's Division 1 Foil event as well as the Women's Division 1 Epee event.

In the Division 1 Foil event, Penn State saw two top three finishes. First place went to alumni and previous Penn State fencing team captain, David Willette (Lafayette, Calif.) followed by junior Nobuo Bravo (San Franscisco, Ca.) in second. Sophomore Howie Chan (Hong Kong) placed 71st in the event.

Sophomore Jessie Radanovich (Frisco, Ca.) tied for third in the Division 1 Women's Epee competition. Other notable finishes in the event go to junior Jessica O'Neill-Lyublinsky (North Salem, N.Y.) who placed 20th in the competition.

Seven fencers competed in the Men's Division 1 Saber competition. Freshman Andrew Mackiewicz placed 18th, followed by defending NCAA men's saber champion, Kaito Streets (Redwood City, Calif.) in 26th. Other notable finishes in the event include sophomore Adam Lewicki (Oakland, N.J.) who tied for 40th, freshman Khalil Thompson (Teaneck, N.J.) took home 58th, sophomore David Akrami (Plano, Texas) finishing in at 72nd, freshman Jarrett Lewis (Montclair, N.J.) in 91st, and sophomore Vincent Argenzio (Revere, Mass.) who placed 123rd.

Day three of the Olympic Trials continues on today and the competition concludes on Monday, October 13th.
