UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's basketball will play its third road contest in the first four games of Big Ten play when it faces Indiana at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Assembly Hall. The game will be broadcast on BTN with Dave Revsine and Jim Jackson on the call.

After a week off from action, the Nittany Lions are seeking their first win in Big Ten play, though they still have the most wins (12) through the first 16 games of the season since 2008-09 (13-3).

QUICK HITS

INDIANA | The Hoosiers are 12-4 on the season and 2-1 in conference play, defeating Nebraska and Ohio State and falling to Michigan State. They are 7-1 at home this season (1-0 in the Big Ten).

THE SERIES | Penn State and Indiana have met 44 times, dating back to 1978. The Hoosiers lead 34-10, though the teams split regular-season meetings a year ago.

LAST TIME OUT | D.J. Newbill scored 20 points, but the Penn State men's basketball team fell to Michigan 73-64, Jan. 6 at the Bryce Jordan Center. The Wolverines' Caris LeVert scored 18 points, while Zak Irvin added 17 and Michigan converted on free throws down the stretch to hold off the Nittany Lions.

Team leading scorer James Blackmon Jr. tallied 18 points, while Tory Williams posted a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Hoosiers vs. the Buckeyes.
  • Blackmon leads Indiana with 16.7 ppg and is the nation's fourth-leading freshman scorer.
  • As a team, the Hoosiers are first among Big Ten teams with an average of 82.0 per game this season and have outscored opponents by 10.9 points per game.

LAST TIME VS. INDIANA
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (Feb. 12, 2014) - Tim Frazier scored on a driving layup with 6.1 seconds to go Wednesday night, capping a remarkable rally to give Penn State a 66-65 victory at Indiana.

Frazier finished with 14 points as the Nittany Lions (13-12, 4-8 Big Ten) ended a two-game losing streak and defeated Indiana for the first time since March 2011. Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell led the Hoosiers with 16 points. Will Sheehey added 12.

Indiana led 64-53 with 3:19 to go, but on a night Indiana (14-10, 4-7) committed 20 turnovers and struggled to inbound the ball late, Penn State closed the game on a 13-1 run. [VIDEO]

OTHER NOTABLE GAMES IN THE SERIES
March 10, 2011 (PSU, 61-55): Penn State used 15 points and seven rebounds from Jeff Brooks to hold off Indiana in the first round of the Big Ten tournament, earning the Lions' sixth win in the previous seven games vs. IU and the last win in the series. No. 6 seed Penn State went on to advance to the title game.

March 12, 2009 (PSU, 66-51): Jamelle Cormley put up 22 points as Penn State downed the Hoosiers in the first round of the Big Ten tournament. The 2008-09 Lions went on to win the NIT Championship.

Jan. 27, 1996 (IU, 85-70): Pete Lisicky tallied seven 3-pointers in the loss at Assembly Hall. The seven treys are tied for the most by a PSU player in Big Ten action.

It was the Big Ten home opener for Penn State, which fell to 0-3 in conference play and 12-4 overall.

Michigan (9-6, 2-1 Big Ten), relied on 3-point shooting from Irvin, LeVert and Aubrey Dawkins who each had two as the Wolverines were 9 of 13 from 3-point range and 24 of 45 overall. [RECAP]

UP NEXT
The Nittany Lions return to the Bryce Jordan Center for a 1 p.m. Saturday game vs. Purdue. The Boilermakers are 10-7 on the season and 2-2 in the Big Ten after falling to Maryland, 69-60, Saturday. They are off until traveling to University Park next weekend.
