Jan. 22, 2015

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State women's tennis team is set for their first back-to-back matches of the season this upcoming weekend. The Nittany Lions will travel to Norfolk, Va. to take on Old Dominion Saturday before making the short trip to Williamsburg, Va. Sunday to battle William & Mary. The Old Dominion match time is set for noon while William & Mary is a 1:00 p.m. start time. This is the first of two back-to-back's the Nittany Lions will play this year, with the second one coming in March.

"I am hoping that the team can be able to build off of the positives from the Tulane match," said Head Coach Chris Cagle. "Doubles play was strong and our team competed hard in singles, so I am looking to carry that into this weekend against two quality opponents."

Junior Victoria Kisialeva (Toronto, Canada) enters the weekend with seven singles wins, second on the team after tallying a singles victory against Tulane. Devan McCluksey (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Kim Surin (Montreal, Canada) continue their success in doubles play by notching a doubles victory over Tulane Sunday.

"Every opponent on our schedule is a quality opponent and it's going to help us in our preparation for conference matches," said Cagle.

Following this weekend, Penn State will travel to Lexington to take on Kentucky on January 31st. This is the last away match before the Nittany Lions return to University Park and host their home opener February 4th against Pittsburgh.
