UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - On the heels of getting ready to make some waves in the pool at the B1G Championships this week in Iowa City, the Penn State men's swimming and diving team is making some headlines in the classroom.
Head Coach Tim Murphy's squad was one of 65 Division I programs to receive Scholar All-America awards from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.
The CSCAA announced the teams qualifying for the awards list Tuesday morning and it featured just seven Big Ten School's which achieved at least a cumulative 3.0 grade point average or better during the Fall 2014 semester.
The Nittany Lions were one of five schools, including conference foe Purdue to earn a 3.05 GPA last fall. Michigan State was the highest ranking B1G school with its 3.41 GPA.
Ranked 24th in the nation in the latest CSCAA Division I poll, the Lions will be in action in Iowa starting, Wed. Feb. 25 at the 2015 B1G Championships. Competition will wrap-up Saturday evening in Iowa City as PSU will look to improve upon its fifth place finish from a year ago.
