Final Stats
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women hold a 29 point lead over second-place Buffalo and the Connecticut men hold a four point lead over the Penn State men heading into the final day of the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup. The Nittany Lions won three events Friday at the Ashenfelter III Indoor Track.
Penn State scored 26 points in the women's weight throw as they took three of the top four spots. Rachel Fatherly (Williamsport, Pa.) won her third weight throw title of the 2015 indoor season with her distance of 66-1.75. Also in the women's weight throw, Annjulie Vester (Homburg, Germany) finished second with a toss of 60-3.25 and Alyssa Robinson (Saint Clairsville, Pa.) took fourth with her distance of 59-5.75.
The quartet of Cody Amengual (West Babylon, N.Y.), Riley Gaibler (Lansdale, Pa.), Will Cather (Port Matilda, Pa.) and Ean DiSilvio clocked (Pittsburgh, Pa.) in at 10:07.60 to place second in the men's distance medley relay and the women's distance medley relay of Julie Kocjancic (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Deja Davis (Shelby Charter Township, Mich.), Victoria Crawford (State College, Pa.) and Greta Lindsley (Lancaster, Pa.) clocked in at 11:36.96 to finish second.
Shelley Black (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) and Quenee Dale (Ypsilanti, Mich.) finished first and second in the 60-meter hurdles with their respective times of 8.49 and 8.55. On the men's side, Sancho Barrett (Amityville, N.Y.) took second in the men's 60-meter hurdles with his time of 8.03.
Freshman Xavier Smith (Douglasville, Pa.) finished third in the men's 60-meter dash as he posted a season-best time of 6.87.
The Nittany Lion men won both the weight throw and long jump events. Darrell Hill (Philadelphia, Pa.) won the men's weight throw with his mark of 62-8.75 and Brian Leap (Bellwood, Pa.) claimed first with his distance of 23-9.50.
Lexi Masterson (Jeannette, Pa.) and Kaitlyn Lopez (Buffalo, N.Y.) both tallied fourth-place finishes in their respective events Friday. Masterson finished fourth in the women's pole vault with her height of 12-4 and Lopez took fourth in the women's long jump with her mark of 18-5.75.
