Final Results
LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Penn State track & field team opened up the Bucknell Classic with numerous top-five finishes Saturday at the Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. Four Nittany Lions went onto claim individual titles, including Robby Creese's (Mount Airy, Md.) top-time in the country in the men's 1,500-meter run.
Day one of the Bucknell Classic featured only distance and field events.
Creese won the invite section of the men's 1,500-meter run with the top-time in the NCAA (3:41.74). Creese currently holds the facility record at the Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium with his personal-best time of 3:41.32. Also in the race, Brannon Kidder (Lancaster, Ohio) finished third in the race (3:44.57).
Penn State also claimed first-place finishes in the invite section of the women's 1,500-meter run, the women's high jump and the men's javelin.
In the men's javelin, Ryan Kerr (Brookville, Pa.) finished first with his toss of 212-0 and Ahmenah Richardson (Philadelphia, Pa.) won the women's high jump with her height of 5-8.
The invite section of the women's 1,500-meter run featured four top-10 finishes from Penn State. Tori Gerlach (Perkasie, Pa.) and Elizabeth Chikotas (Hellertown, Pa.) claimed the top-two spots with their times of 4:22.93 and 4:23.24, respectively.
Greta Lindsley (Lancaster, Pa.) rounded out the top-five of the race with her time of 4:29.90 and Julie Kocjancic (Pittsburgh, Pa.) finished seventh (4:32.66).
Along with Penn State's four individual titles, numerous Nittany Lions recorded top-five finishes throughout the day.
On the track, In her 2015 outdoor season debut, sophomore Stephanie Aldrich (West Chester, Pa.) finished fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with her 13 second PR time of 10:31.13 and Glen Burkhardt (Kennett Square, Pa.) ran a time of 14:29.61 to place fifth in the 5,000-meter run.
Freshman Bryce Williams (State College, Pa.) made his outdoor season debut with his fourth-place finish in the men's long jump (23-0.75) and in the women's long jump, Dannielle Gibson (Nassau, Bahamas) finished fourth with her distance of 18-7.25.
Freshman Megan McCloskey (Lower Gwynedd, Pa.) added a fifth-place finish for the Nittany Lions in the women's high jump with her height of 5-5.25.
Also in the men's javelin, Cole Proffitt (Manheim, Pa.) finished fourth with his season-best mark of 200-5, while Kayla Zoschg (Emporium, Pa.) and Natalie Shiffler (Irwin, Pa.) finished fourth (146-9) and fifth (141-0), respectively in the women's javelin. Both performances were season-bests.
Penn State added a runner-up spot with Jon Yohman (New Wilmington, Pa.) in the men's discus (171-5) and a fourth-place finish in the women's discus (145-2) from Obeng Marfo (Ontario, Canada).
The Bucknell Classic concludes tomorrow starting at 10:30 a.m.
