LINCOLN Neb. - The Penn State women's soccer team tied Nebraska, 1-1, Friday night at Barbara Hibner Stadium. A late second half goal from Emily Ogle (Strongsville, Ohio) tied the match for Penn State with eight minutes to play in regulation.

Looking to tally the first goal of the match, Mallory Weber (Novi, Mich.) posted a shot from the right side of the penalty area in the fourth minute, but Nebraska's Erika Johnson recorded her first save of the night.

The Cornhuskers (4-3-2, 0-1-2), didn't waste time getting on the board in the match. In the sixth minute, Caroline Flynn fired a shot on net from 17 yards out in the middle of the penalty area. Keeper Britt Eckerstrom (Germantown, Md.) dove and deflected the ball, but the ball bounced across the goal line to give Nebraska the 1-0 lead.

The Nittany Lions (6-2-2, 1-1-1) went into halftime trailing, 1-0. Nebraska led in shot attempts, 5-3. Though in the second half of regulation, the Penn State offense took charge in search of the equalizer.

The Nittany Lions put pressure on the Cornhuskers throughout the second half of regulation. During the final 45 minutes of regulation, Penn State outshot Nebraska, 10-1. The Cornhuskers' lone shot attempt of the second half came 40 seconds into the half.

With five goals already this season, Weber recorded a sliding shot attempt just inside the 18-yard box in the 66th minute, but Johnson snagged the ball out of the air to keep the 1-0 lead intact.

With eight minutes to play in regulation, freshman Charlotte Williams (Rochester, N.Y.) crossed the ball into the penalty area from the right side of the field. Once the ball was in the box, Weber redirected the ball towards the middle of the box, where Ogle fired the ball into the upper left corner for her second goal of the season.

Weber's assist on Ogle's goal is the third of the season, and the 21st of her career, which is tied for 14th all-time at Penn State (Maya Hayes '13).

With the match now tied, the Nittany Lions went to work looking for the game-winning goal in regulation. Penn State tallied a corner kick in the 83rd minute, but was unable to capitalize.

Though she didn't technically didn't get a credit for a save, Eckerstrom came charging off her line in the 95th minute to intercept a Cornhusker through ball. Flynn was just steps away from connecting on the game-winning goal for the Cornhuskers.

In the first overtime, Penn State recorded a pair of game-winning opportunities. In the 97th minute, Weber stole the ball outside the Cornhusker penalty area, took a few steps and attempted a shot, but a Nebraska defender stepped up and blocked the attempt.

A minute later, from outside the penalty area, Crouse tallied a shot on net, but Johnson was there for her sixth, and final, save of the night.

During the second overtime, the Nittany Lions recorded three shot attempts, but were unable to break the 1-1 tie.

Penn State outshot Nebraska, 18-6, in the match, including 15-1, in the final three periods of play. Crouse and Ogle led the Nittany Lion attack with four shots apiece.

The Nittany Lions continue their three-game road trip Sunday, Sept. 27, against Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, at 1 p.m. CDT
