WINTHROP, Mass. -- Freshman Victoria Samuelsson (Leksand, Sweden) has been named the College Hockey America Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. Samuelsson is the eighth Nittany Lion to receive the award.
Samuelsson and the Nittany Lions are coming off their first back-to-back shutouts of a Division I team in program history. This past weekend Penn State defeated Union by a score of 3-0 in both contests.
Over the weekend, Samuelsson dished out two assists Saturday night and tallied one more assist on Sunday. She also recorded six shots in the weekend series.
The Nittany Lions continue their homestand this weekend with a two-game series against UConn (Oct. 24-25). Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. Saturday night and 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
