UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.
- The Penn State women's cross country team jumped three spots checking in at No. 16 in the fourth edition of the NCAA Division I Cross Country National Coaches Poll, as announced Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Hitting the course for the first time in three weeks, the No. 19 Penn State women's cross country team recorded a third-place finish at the Greater Louisville Classic behind a top-10 performance by sophomore Elizabeth Chikotas (Hellertown, Pa.) Saturday Oct. 3 in Louisville, Ky.

"I am excited for our women to continue to climb in the polls as we progress through the season," said head coach John Gondak. "I still do not think we have had a "perfect" race yet this season, so I am looking forward to that happening and seeing how we stack up against some of the teams ahead of us."

At the regional level, the women's cross country teams remained the No. 2 teams in the Mid-Atlantic region, while the men slipped to the No. 4 spot.

"The men, who have been receiving votes in previous polls, have a chance to go out at Wisconsin and get back into the top 30 with a great showing and we are preparing to go and accomplish that goal next weekend," said Gondak

The Nittany Lions travel to Madison, Wis. for the Wisconsin Adidas Invite, and will also compete in the Penn State Open the following day in University Park, Pa.

The Wisconsin Adidas Invite has established itself as one of the nation's premier collegiate meets. The seventh-annual event is set for Oct. 16.
