The Penn State All-Sports Museum to host Kim Seevers, Adaptive Ski Guide

Nov. 2, 2015 UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State All-Sports Museum's Ellen Perry Speaker Series will host Adaptive Ski Guide Kim Seevers on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 12pm.

Kim Seevers is the Program Development and Grants Director for the Adaptive Sports Foundation in Windham, NY. The ASF provides outdoor physical activity and education programs for children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities. As an offshoot of her work with adaptive ski racers, Kim was paired as a guide with Adaptive Sports Foundation Race Team member and visually impaired athlete Staci Mannella. Kim and Staci won six national championships during their racing career. They won World Cup gold in the 2013 Winter Games in New Zealand. The pair most recently represented the United States in the 2014 Winter Paralympic Games in Sochi, Russia and returned home with two 6th place finishes in GS and slalom.

Kim graduated from Penn State in 1986 with an M.S. degree in Physical Education. She was a graduate assistant coach for the women's softball team from 1980 through 1982. In 1984, Kim became the Snowsports School Director at Tussey Mountain in Boalsburg, a post she held until 1997.

The presentation will be held in the Clemen's Family Theater, on the first floor of the Penn State All-Sports Museum. The event will begin at 12 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the community.

The Museum is located at the southwest corner of Beaver Stadium opposite the Bryce Jordan Center. A long canopy leading from Curtin Road marks the Museum entrance. Parking is free in the adjacent Lot 44. For more information, call us at 814-863-5689 or email us at asmevents@psu.edu.
