Penn State Athletics Facilities Master Planning to be Discussed During WPSU's

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The future of Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics' facilities will be discussed during the next episode of WPSU Penn State's "Higher Education in Focus: Tackling the Athletics Master Plan" at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17, on WPSU-TV and WPSU-FM.

University President Eric Barron and Sandy Barbour, Penn State Director of Athletics, will discuss the reasoning, encourage community input and timeframe for the ICA facilities master plan, which will address current and long-term needs for Penn State Athletics' facilities.

Penn State Athletics has partnered with Populous, one of the world's leading architecture and sport event planning firms, to collaborate on programming, developing and producing a comprehensive Facilities Master Plan. The project began in October and is expected to be complete by July, 2016.

Scott Radecic, a senior principal at Populous and a former Penn State football student-athlete, will join Barron and Barbour during the 30-minute program.

Penn State has nearly 20 facilities that are used for team competitions and practice and that house team locker, academic, meeting and performance enhancement rooms, in addition to ICA staff offices and meeting rooms.

"Higher Education in Focus: Tackling the Athletics Master Plan," will re-air on PBS World at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 18 and on WPSU-TV at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 27.
