VIDEO: Fencing Team's Flash Duel
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- In case you missed it, the Penn State fencing team hosted a "flash duel" today in the HUB-Robeson Center. The event was to promote this weekend's NCAA duel against Penn, Yale, UNC, Columbia, Haverford, Duke and Temple (women's only).
While the match is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16 in the White Building, the team is hoping to draw a large crowd for its match-up against the defending NCAA champions, Columbia, at 1 p.m. The Nittany Lions were the 2015 runner-ups in the championship, so it will be a showdown between the top-two teams in the NCAA.
Students are encouraged to arrive at the White Building between 12:30 -- 12:45 p.m. for a chance to win $250 in books to the Penn State Student Bookstore. The first 100 students in the door will also receive free pizza. Admission is free.
On-campus students can use the advertisement napkins found in East and Pollock Dining Commons to enter the meet, also.
Penn State will honor its seniors just before the Columbia match with Senior Day festivities. Fans will have the opportunity to meet some of the fencers, sing the Penn State fight songs and take a picture with the Nittany Lion.
