Multiple Personal Best Marks Highlight Texas Invitational, Bucknell Classic

- Penn State track & field wrapped up action in the Lone Star State Saturday afternoon with several athletes setting personal best as well as wrapping up day one of competition in Lewisburg, Pa. at the Bucknell Classic.

In Texas, Penn State got the day started with the men's and women's 4x100-meter relays recording sixth-place finishes running times of 40.40 and 46.0, respectively.

Five Nittany Lion athletes set personal best in the 100-meters including Deja Davis (12.03), Lauren Costa (12.12), Dan Chisena (10.63), Malik Moffett (10.85), and Cody Minnig (10.96).

Xavier Smith missed tying his collegiate best by one one-hundredth of a second clocking 10.60 in the event to take 12th-place.

The 200-meters would see three more Nittany Lions set personal best as Tichina Rhodes, Quenee Dale, and Dan Chisena ran times of 24.24, 24.78, and 21.05, respectively.

Tichina highlighted the quarter mile group for Penn State finishing seventh in the one lap race in a time of 55.39.

Quenee Dale equaled her personal best time in the 100-meter hurdles running 13.75, the No. 7 time in school history.

David Marrington set a new PR in the 400-meter hurdles with his ninth-place finish running a time of 55.04.

In the field, it was senior Brian Leap who stood out with his performance in the men's triple jump finishing competition with a best jump of 16.27m (53'-4.50") which stands as the No. 3 mark in school history all-time. Leap set the personal best mark on his second jump of the competition with a legal wind of 2.0 MPH.

Dannielle Gibson and Kaitlyn Lopez finished third and fourth in the women's triple jump with their jumps of 12.55m (41'-2.25") and 12.51m (41'-0.50"), respectively.

Lopez's mark is a new personal best for the senior from Buffalo, N.Y.

Patrick Anderson won his section of the men's pole vault clearing 4.76m (15'-7.25").

David Lucas finished second in the men's discus throw with his mark of 53.38m (175'-1") to move into No. 10 on the all-time list in the event.

In the women's high jump, Megan McCloskey also moved into the Top-10 with her first-place jump of 1.78m (5'-10") to equal the No. 10 mark in school history. Ahmenah Richardson finished fourth in the same event with her clearance of 1.73m (5'-8").

Chisom Ifedi mirrored McCloskey's finish by winning the men's high jump as he soared over 2.09m (6'-10.25").

Rachel Fatherly and Alyssa Robinson took second and third in the shot put with throws of 16.43m (53-11") and 15.88m (52'-1.25"), respectively.

Rounding out the day in Texas was Jon Yohman in the men's shot put as he improved his mark on the all-time Top-10 list boasting a best mark of 18.04m (59-2.25") on the day to finish third in the event.

In Lewisburg, Pa. at the Bucknell Classic, Julie Kocjancic led the way in the women's 1,500-meters setting a personal best along the way running 4:24.79 to finish fifth.

Tal Ben-Artzi finished the women's high jump with a season's best clearance of 1.65m (5'5").

True freshman Colin Abert ran a personal best time in the 1,500-meters clocking 3:45.25 to take sixth-place. Abert's teammates Jordan Makins (3:46.68) and Wade Endress (3:47.10) finished right behind in 10th and 11th-place, respectively.

Penn State will return to the track tomorrow in Lewisburg for day two action of the Bucknell Classic starting at 11 a.m.
