UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. --
The Penn State men's soccer team announced its 2016 schedule Monday, May 23. The schedule includes 10 home matches at Jeffery Field as well as eight matches against teams that were selected for the 2015 NCAA Tournament.

Furthermore, the Nittany Lions will take on six teams that have won a combined 16 NCAA National Championships and eight programs that have competed in an NCAA title match a total of 33 times.

Head Coach Bob Warming enters his seventh season at the helm of Penn State men's soccer after leading the Nittany Lions to a 7-8-3 overall record and a 2-4-2 Big Ten Conference record in the 2015 campaign. The Blue and White earned an overtime victory over Michigan State in the Big Ten Tournament play in match before falling to eventual Big Ten Champion Ohio State in the quarterfinals in overtime.

Penn State kicks off its 2016 season in California where it will take on 2015 defending National Champion Stanford Friday, Aug. 26, before finishing the weekend at Cal Sunday, Aug. 28.

Following opening weekend, the Blue and White kick off its 2016 home schedule Friday, Sept. 2 with a 7 p.m. match against James Madison and will play a Monday night contest against NCAA Tournament participant Oakland at 7 p.m. The Nittany Lions will play a Friday night match against in-state foe Saint Francis, Sept. 9 and will conclude their four-match home stand Tuesday, Sept. 13 when they take on the defending Big Ten Champions Ohio State University at 7 p.m.

Penn State will make the short trek to College Park, Md. Sunday, Sept. 18 for a 5 p.m. conference match against the Terrapins of Maryland.

The Nittany Lions close out the month of September with two home matches, first taking on Wisconsin in a Big Ten matchup Friday, Sept. 23 and capping off the month with a Tuesday, Sept. 27 match against Temple at 7 p.m. at Jeffrey Field.

PSU opens up the month of October in Ann Arbor, Mich. Saturday, Oct. 2 with a noon match against the Wolverines and will travel to Bloomington, Ind. a week later for a 7:30 contest with the Hoosiers of Indiana, Oct. 8.

The Blue and White will see its second stretch of five-straight matches inside the friendly confines of Jeffrey Field starting with Pittsburgh Tuesday Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. and close out the week with a B1G contest against Michigan State Saturday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. The Nittany Lions will then play a mid-week contest against non-conference NCAA Tournament participant Akron Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.

Warming and his squad will finish off its 2016 home Big Ten Conference slate Friday, Oct. 21 with a 7 p.m. match at Jeffrey Field against Rutgers, who made an NCAA postseason appearance in 2015.

The final chance to catch the Nittany Lions at Jeffrey Field in the 2016 campaign will be Tuesday, Oct. 25 when Wright State comes to town for a mid-week non-conference match slated for 7 p.m.

Penn State will close out its 2016 regular season Sunday, Oct. 30 when it travels to Evanston, Ill. for a 12:30 contest against the Northwestern Wildcats.

The Nittany Lions will begin the hunt for its third Big Ten Conference crown in five years and its third NCAA appearance in five years starting Saturday, Nov. 5 in the Big Ten Quarterfinals slated to be played at campus sites. The tournament continues the following Friday with the semifinal round Friday, Nov. 11 followed by the Big Ten Tournament finals Sunday, Nov. 13.

Warming returns two-time First Team All-Big Ten Conference honoree Connor Maloney (Harrisburg, Pa.) for his senior season, while six other seniors will take the field for one final season donning the Blue and White. The Nittany Lions will also bring in a new group of student-athletes to add to its 2015 returners.
