UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Chris Cagle, head coach of the Penn State Nittany Lion women's tennis team, has announced that Bennett Dunn will join the team for the upcoming season, transferring to Penn State from Alabama.
Dunn was a member of the 2015 SEC First Year Honor Roll while at Alabama. An outstanding junior player, she was a Blue Chip junior recruit according to TennisRecruiting.net, ranked No. 16 nationally and No. 3 in the state of Florida. She was a two-time Bobby Curtis Junior State Champion in 16s and 18s and the 2013 Bobby Curtis 18s Junior State Doubles Champion. Dunn was a three-time Florida sectional champion and a four-time Florida designated champion.
"We are excited to have Bennett Dunn join our program starting this fall," said Cagle. "Bennett has consistently competed at the highest levels in the U.S. and abroad, so her experience will add to our team right away. Bennett's goals of competing at an elite collegiate level while receiving a world class degree align with what Penn State is about. Our coaching staff looks forward to working with Bennett this fall and adding her strengths to our veteran squad."
Dunn, who will have two years of eligibility remaining, is the daughter of Matthew and Pamela Dunn and will major in telecommunications within the College of Communications.
