PENN STATE READY FOR ROAD MATCH AGAINST TOP-RANKED UMD
The Penn State men's soccer team is ready to hit the road for its first Big Ten Conference away match of the 2016 season against the Terrapins of the University of Maryland. The Nittany Lions and the Terrapins will face off Sunday, Sept. 18 at 5 p.m. at Ludwig Field.

TAKING ON TOP-RANKED TEAMS
The Terrapins come into the Sunday afternoon match ranked No. 4 in the nation and will be the second top-five team that Penn State has played in its first six matches of the season. The Nittany Lions opened the season against then-No. 1 Stanford, playing to a 0-0 double overtime draw Aug. 26. On the other side of the ball, Maryland has played three ranked teams in the 2016 campaign including No. 16 UCLA, No. 24 Georgetown and No. 5 Indiana.

NITTANY LIONS IN CONFERENCE ROAD OPENERS
Penn State has fared well in Big Ten Conference road openers, holding a 14-8-3 record. Furthermore, the Blue and White are 3-2-1 in conference road openers under head coach Bob Warming and have not lost since the 2011 season with Warming at the helm. Last season, the Nittany Lions tied Ohio State 1-1 in double overtime, Sept. 20.

QUICK GLANCE AT MARYLAND
The No. 4 Terrapins come into the Sunday contest with a 4-0-2 overall record and a 1-0-1 record in Big Ten Conference play after picking up a 2-1 double overtime win over Rutgers, Sept. 13.
Gordon Wild paces UMD with 13 points that comes from six goals and one assist, while Alex Cronagle is the only other Terp with multiple goals on the season, netting two. The Maryland offense is outshooting its opponents 95-44 on the season and averages 2.50 goals per game.
In net, veteran keeper Cody Niedemeier has played 593:29 minutes on the pitch with a 0.76 goals against average. Niedermeier has made 13 saves and given up five goals with one shutout in the 2016 campaign.

B1G WIN OVER OHIO STATE ON MACK BRADY NIGHT
Behind a season-high four goals, the Penn State men's soccer team remained undefeated in Mack Brady Matches picking up a 4-2 victory over Ohio State in its first Big Ten Conference match of the 2016 season Tuesday, Sept. 13 at Jeffrey Field.
The Nittany Lions notched their first win over Ohio State since the 2014 season when they took a 1-0 victory at Jeffrey Field in the second Mack Brady Match. The four goals in the match marked the first time Penn State has scored four goals since the 2012 season when it tied Northwestern 4-4 in double overtime on the road.

KLERKS SCORES TWO AGAINST OSU
Senior Mason Klerks paced the team against Ohio State with two goals on the night, scoring both in the first 26 minutes of action. The two goals were the first time a Penn State player has netted two in one game since Connor Maloney had two against Maryland in the 2015 campaign.

AMMANN MAKES IDENTICAL PK SAVE IN MACK BRADY MATCH
Exactly one year to the day of the 3rd Mack Brady Match and Penn State's 1-0 win over then-No. 10 Indiana, freshman goalkeeper Arie Ammann found himself in the same situation that Matt Bersano was in one year earlier. At the 2015 Mack Brady Match, Bersano came up with a huge penalty kick save when he dove to his left and knocked the ball to the sideline in an effort to keep the match scoreless. In the 2016 Mack Brady Match, Ammann made the same exact save in the same exact goal to keep the Nittany Lion three goal lead intact on a night that is meant to honor goalkeepers.

MALONEY TALLIES FIVE POINTS AGAINST THE BUCKEYES
Senior Connor Maloney was the leader on the field for the Blue and White against the Buckeyes tacking on at least one point in each of Penn State's four goals. The senior captain assisted both of the goals from Mason Klerks before netting his fourth goal of the season on a penalty kick and adding an assist on junior Aymar Sigue's goal.

NEXT TIME OUT
Penn State returns to Jeffrey Field Friday, Sept. 23 for a Big Ten Conference match against Wisconsin. The match is slated to start a 5:30 p.m. as the first leg of a doubleheader with the women's team and will be featured on Big Ten Network.
